Suburban Diversity Gala 2022

Hofstra University's Department of Suburban Studies held it 13th annual Gala on November 29th. Two of our members attended the festivities. Founder Soh Young Lee-Segredo once again served marvelously as the evening's Musical Director. She was joined by Linda Leaf as well.


The Honoree and KeynoteLi Speaker was Debbie Salas-Lopez, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President, Community and Population Health, Northwell Health Professor of Medicine, Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell


The Honorees were:


  • Elise de Castillo, Esq., Executive Director, CARECEN

  • Farrah Mozawalla, Founder and CEO, Asian American Institute of Research and Engagement (AAIRE)

  • Gillian Atkinson, Director, Intercultural Engagement and Inclusion, Hofstra University Associate Director, Hofstra University Office of Student Leadership and Engagement

The musical performances were by:

Ukrainian Folk Dance Group

The Demolition Brass Band

The Central Islip Senior Choir

A Dance Performance by a Taiwanese Troupe

A Jazz Trio
