June 19, 2025, as a member of the Freeport/Roosevelt NAACP (National Association for Advancement of Colored People) for over 20 years, I attended the Juneteenth BBQ at Bishop White's Park in Freeport. Such a vibrant organization with such a long history, the Freeport/Roosevelt Branch is with glowing Youth Committee, Educational Committee with a new president, secretary, etc. I am grateful to God that I recruited Christine Waters long ago to the NAACP and now, she is the NYS NAACP Educational Chairperson working towards improvement for students, teachers and parents at the State level. Our friendship is based on understanding, mutual respect and in serving the community in need! I represent the Asian community in NAACP. I am grateful that with the Civil Rights Movement and Work of the United Methodist Women (if you've watched the Mary Poppins movie you can see them as the Suffragettes ) for the Women's Movement, I could come to the U.S. and have an opportunity to study and work & volunteer for numerous educational institutions for over 46 years as a woman of color. God is good all the time, all the time God is good!
Juneteenth is in my opinion one of the most important historical federal holidays in US!
